A Call for Artists!

The Owensboro Art Guild Plein Air Event will be Saturday, June 21st, 2025, at the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden, located at 2731 W. 2nd Street, Owensboro, KY 42301. With twelve acres in The Garden, there will be plenty of room to spread out. Access to The Garden the week leading up to this event is Free of charge to scout out a place to set up and create art.

You are welcome to use any two-dimensional art medium(s) to create an en plein air painting. You may produce as much art as you like; however, you may only submit two pieces for judging.

The gate opens for artists check-in at 7:00 a.m. You MUST have your canvas, paper, or choice of flat art surface stamped before you begin to create or paint. You do not have to be there at 7:00 a.m., but all artworks must be completed and submitted for judging NO LATER than 2:00 p.m. Artwork labels and any additional information will be provided at check-in. Framing is optional but highly recommended. Please supply easels to display your art, since it is not possible to hang paintings.

Cash and purchase awards will be presented. Artists will display their plein air artwork 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in The Garden. Artists may sell their art commission-free.

Entry Fee: $25 per artist for OAG members, $35 per artist for non-members, entrants under 18 are FREE. Those 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. All under 18 must have parental permission. In the event of inclement weather, we will make every effort to schedule a rain-out date. There will be no refund if we must cancel this event because of inclement weather. The Art Guild will supply snacks and water.
